A ST ALBANS make-up artist who has brushed her magic onto the faces of celebrities including Gino D’Acampo, Peter Andre and Michelle Collins has recently won a national beauty award.

Abbi-Rose Crook received the Professional Beauty Magazine’s make-up specialist of the year award 2012 at a star-studded gala hosted by comedian Rufus Hound at the Hilton Park Lane in London.

The 26 year old of Carlisle Avenue is a former pupil of St Albans Girls’ School and completed sixth form at Beaumont School.

A freelance make-up artist, Abbi-Rose has worked alongside Gino D’Acampo on his programme Let’s Do Lunch on ITV and Peter Andre, both of whom she describes as “really lovely guys”.

She said that, like other men on TV, they had to have some make-up applied when appearing on high definition television.

Abbi-Rose explained: “Otherwise it will look quite harsh for viewers, so everyone needs to have this done.”

To ensure the celebrities look picture-perfect she concentrates on skin preparation, saying that to look presentable on screen they need to use good skin care.

Then it is down to decent primers, accentuating features and touching up the make-up during commercial breaks.

She has also worked backstage at the MOBO awards for the last three years and recently headed up the make-up teams for Asian Awards 2011 and Miss World 2011.

Abbi-Rose trained as a beauty therapist at West Herts College in Watford before going on to train in fashion make-up and hair to an international standard at the prestigious Greasepaint Make-up School.

Professional Beauty Magazine is one of the leading business magazines for the beauty, spa and nails industries.
