AUSSIE hunk Peter Andre caused quite a stir at a supermarket in London Colney this week when thousands of screaming fans turned up to the launch of his new album Angels and Demons.

The 39-year-old pop star kicked off his week-long promotional tour at Sainsbury’s on Monday where he was greeted by more than 2,000 devoted followers.

People armed with copies of his new album, which was released on the same day, stood waiting patiently to meet their idol in a queue that spiralled around several aisles of the store.

And some of them had been in the line for more than seven hours in order to make sure they were in a prime spot when he arrived.

Peter, who spoke to the Herts Advertiser before his two-hour signing, said: “I just love meeting all the people and all the fans.

“They are obviously the most important and the ones who are giving us any kind of success so I am grateful for that.

“They are buying something that you have produced and it means so much.

“It is a great way of being close and personal with them and making them realise that you are all like family. That is the way I try and do it.”

The dad-of-two, who is often asked to give his female admirers a peck on the cheek, said he never tires of meeting his fans.

He added: “I am a bit of a kisser, I kiss everybody which is a bit mad but I do do that.”

Peter shot to fame with his mid-1990s hit Mysterious Girl and is known for his high-profile marriage and subsequent split from glamour model Katie Price.

He is now concentrating on his music career and alongside filming his reality TV show is about to embark on a nationwide 31-date tour.

Describing his ninth album Angels and Demons he said: “It has a lot of light and a lot of shade there is a lot of feel good songs like Don’t Be Afraid and then there is a dark side like Angels and Demons. I am really moving forward with what I want to do musically so I am really happy.

“For now I am focusing on my music, music is what I love doing the most.”

And he certainly did not disappoint any of his supporters on Monday – seconds after meeting her idol one teenager from St Albans said: “I was really nervous and I was shaking when I met him. So many people were pushing and we just wanted to get there because we had been there for so long.

“It was definitely worth the wait and I am going to play his album as soon as I get home.”

Another heavily pregnant fan, who travelled from Leicester to attend the signing, said: “I feel a bit giddy, I have seen him four times but it is it just as good every time.

“I am having a girl so she will definitely be a Peter Andre fan.”

Sainsbury’s deputy store manager Stewart Priest said: “It is great for the store and great for customers to have the opportunity to see him in the flesh. We have had a very positive reaction from everybody.”
