A 70-year-old woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries after being struck by a car in St Albans city centre last night (Thursday).
A spokeswoman for Herts Police said the woman was on the zebra crossing in St Peter’s Street, near the roundabout opposite the Blacksmiths Arms pub, when she was struck by a green Volkswagon Bora at about 5.15pm.
She said the pedestrian was taken to hospital as a precaution but was only slightly injured.
Traffic quickly became congested in neighbouring streets, including Sandpit Lane, while emergency services attended the scene.
