HARPENDEN residents who were without electricity during Tuesday night and Wednesday will be compensated by their energy company.
The power cut occurred in the early hours of the morning due to a fault on EDF Energy's underground cable network. Engineers managed to restore power to most homes within a couple of hours, but 161 residents were without electricity until 10.24pm on Wednesday.
Because it took EDF Energy longer than 18 hours to restore power to the whole area, those affected can claim a guaranteed standard payment of £50 for residential customers or £100 for business customers.
A spokesperson from the company said: "All customers eligible to claim have already been contacted by letter, but if they have any queries they can call our Customer Relations department on 0800 0284587.
