A primary school is celebrating its one year anniversary of taking part in the Daily Mile.

Saracens Academy rugby coach Kelly Brown and Herts travel dinosaur mascot Betsy visited Park Street Primary School on Wednesday, March 28, to celebrate a year of pupils walking, skipping or running a mile during the school day to improve their physical well-being.

The school has been working with Herts county council’s active and safer travel team to encourage pupils to walk to school, which makes them healthier and more prepared for the day ahead and ensures they exercise every day.

The team works with schools across the county on road safety and sustainable travel initiatives.

Park Street has now joined the national Modeshift Stars scheme, which recognises schools which have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel.
