YOUNG football, netball and swimming stars have won a tidy collection of trophies for their primary school.

How Wood Primary School on Spooners Drive, Park Street, has had its most successful sporting season to date and there are now four brand-new trophies decorating the school's reception area following the events of the past couple of weeks.

The girls football team won the league cup at a five-a-side football tournament, the netball team was awarded the cup for good sportsmanship at a tournament a few weekends ago and the mixed swimming team won two trophies - the best boys team and the overall joint boys and girls cup - at a recent swimming gala.

Sally Croucher organises all the sporting events at How Wood and said that she was proud of the children's achievements: "We have had a very good year so far for sport and out trophies are enjoying pride of place at reception. I hope we continue to be as successful as we are now!
