It will be all hands to the pump when the annual St Albans Cycle Ride gets underway this Sunday.

While the cyclists will set off from Oaklands College in Hatfield Road, Smallford, from 9am, the 150-plus organisers will be hard at work setting everything up on Saturday and from 4am on the day.

The cycle ride is organised by the Rotary Clubs of St Albans and they are urging participants to register online before midday on Saturday - if for no other reason than it costs an additional £5 on the day.

There will be a full support team en route, including marshalls to guide riders along the way and plenty of snacks and musical entertainment at the finish in the college grounds.

Anyone who doesn’t want to ride, either as an individual, a family or a team of friends or colleagues, is asked to sponsor a rider and support various charities.
