Colin Jackson, a former sprinter and hurdler and Olympic silver medallist, attended the event on Wednesday, May 9 at Westminster Lodge, which is operated by Everyone Active on behalf of St Albans council.

Athletes of all ages were mentored by Colin Jackson himself, nutritionist Chris McLeod and Dr Josie Perry, who delivered a session on mental wellbeing. Olympic gymnastics gold medallist Max Whitlock also shared insights into his career path and journey to Rio.

The scheme offers athletes sponsorship to help towards funding training, equipment, travel and competition costs.

Local sporting champion athlete Milly Gall said: “The event was a great experience. I learnt a lot about how to manage my diet effectively and the mental pressures that come with being an elite athlete.”
