HOWEVER low the temperatures dip, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of St Albans will be taking part in the annual carol service outside the Alban Arena on Sunday afternoon (4).
The carol service, which starts at 4pm, is run jointly with Grove House and all the funds go to the hospice.
The Mayor, Cllr Maxine Crawley, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Beric Read, will be joined by the Dean of St Albans, the Very Rev Jeffrey John, and members of St Albans Operatic Society accompanied by the City Band.
Everyone who participates will be treated to hot coffee and mince pies in the council chamber afterwards.
The Mayor said: “This is one of the highlights of my Mayoral year.”
n The Mayor’s charity dinner last weekend raised over £1,360 for two charities.
Held at Kashu in Hatfield Road and attended by around 76 people, the money will be split between Home-Start StAlbans and Special Olympics St Albans, the two mayoral charities. Among the guests were four sixth formers from St Albans Girls School (STAGS) who were raising money for Home-Start St Albans as part of the Dragon’s Apprentice initiative set up by the Council for Voluntary Service.
They took charge of both table raffles for the centre decorations and a general raffle.
