ST ALBANS: A “conditional” offer has been made for a former hostel for the homeless, the sale of which was to have helped pay for the new Westminster Lodge leisure centre which is currently under construction.
The district council was remaining tight-lipped this week about who wants to buy Ridgeview, which was once a hostel for the homeless but has, for the past year, been rented to the University of Herts for student accommodation. The offer will be discussed at cabinet next week but council leader Julian Daly said he would like to see the bulk of the money raised go towards social housing.
