NUMBER plate recognition technology helped the police arrest ten people in and around Redbourn this month.

The Automatic Number Plate Recognition Unit (ANPR) was out on the roads from last Friday (12) to Tuesday (16) targeting criminals driving through Redbourn and Hemel Hempstead as part of the countywide campaign Operation Sentinel.

Five of the ten people arrested have already been charged for offences including drugs possession and driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and a 19-year-old man from Harpenden was cautioned for making off without payment.

As well as the arrests, police also took nine unsafe and illegal vehicles off the road.
