Over a tenth of all nuisance 999 calls made in Hertfordshire between March and November last year were from St Albans, the ambulance service has revealed.
St Albans made six out of the highlighted 42 calls made from the county to East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST), a total of 14 per cent.
The data was released as part of a campaign by EEAST to bring down the number of such calls, which across their region have included a broken nail, a rat bite, and a woman wanting a lift home.
EEAST were unable to provide specific examples from St Albans as all six calls were marked as hoaxes very early on.
The ambulance service has advised less urgent calls to be made to the non-emergency number 101.
