Nominate a neighbour for St Albans and Harpenden Chocolate Tea Party event

Do you know an elderly neighbour who would benefit from a fun and free afternoon out?
The charity Chocolate Tea Party is back following the success of last year’s inaugural event, once again run by family branded confectionary business The Chocolate Wrapper in conjunction with Age Concern.
It promises a scrumptious full afternoon tea and great entertainment, with the opportunity to meet and socialise with other elderly people from the St Albans and Harpenden areas.
Taking place at St Albans Girls’ School on November 4 from 2-4.45pm, it is supported with generous donations from local businesses to ensure it is completely free of charge for guests.
Peter and Kath Barker, organisers of The Chocolate Tea Party said: “Putting something back into our community has always been an important part of running our family chocolate business. Last year’s event was a huge success and we’re hoping that this year we’ll be able to reach out to more elderly people with our ‘Nominate a Neighbour’ campaign’.
Ian Woods, trustee of Age Concern, said: “Isolation and loneliness is a reality for many old people so providing them with an opportunity to socialise, show them that people care and provide a fun afternoon out is really important.”
Vera Ratcliffe attended in 2016 and said: “The Chocolate Tea Party last year was a fantastic afternoon out. It really was a special day out and we were treated like royalty.”
Margaret Mahoney said: “It was so exciting to be a guest at last year’s party and I hope to be able to attend this year. The entertainment was fabulous, the food amazing and the volunteers who supported us on the day were fantastic. Thank you so much for this - it has been a highlight of the year for me.”
Brian Brinkley added: “It’s really great to know that people care about the older generation. It was a great event and the opportunity to get out, mix with others and have an an enjoyable afternoon was really appreciated.”
