A WOMAN may be prosecuted by St Albans District Council because she is alleged to have persistently bombarded her neighbours with loud amplified music.
The woman, who lives in the Pickford Hill area of Harpenden, could now be prosecuted for failing to comply with the requirements of a noise-abatement notice.
And the council's housing department is also investigating the possibility of pursuing proceedings against the woman, one of their tenants, for failing to comply with her tenancy conditions
The woman's musical equipment together with associated media items including TVs, computers and CDs were seized last week after a warrant was issued by the magistrates court.
Neighbours had complained that they had been subjected to continuous noise which the resident had refused to reduce.
The noise-abatement notice was served after environmental health officers had witnessed noise at levels that they considered would disturb the sleep of her neighbours.

Despite repeated warnings, the resident failed to comply with the notice which had resulted in the court action.
The seizure of equipment was a joint operation involving environmental health officers from St Albans and Hertsmere and the Harpenden Safer Neighbourhood police team.
Harpenden Police Sgt Lewis Ducket said: "Nobody should have to suffer from the misery caused by excessive noise because of inconsiderate nuisance neighbours. Our response illustrates that we will work with our partners to help those members of the community who have been affected by taking action against those responsible."
Cllr Chris Brazier on behalf of Cllr Anthony Rowlands, portfolio holder for community, engagement and support, reiterated that the council would take "positive action" against residents who persistently refused to behave in a considerate way towards their neighbours with regard to noise."
St Albans council has powers to deal with noise nuisance and an online report can be made on the website www.stalbans.gov.uk, email environmental@stalbans.gov.uk or call 01727 819406.
