ANOTHER power cut hit residents in Harpenden this week when nearly 600 homes in and around Aldwickbury Crescent lost power at 5pm on Monday and some remained without electricity until 8.30pm.

It came within weeks of the extensive power cuts which hit the district in the snowfall on October 28.

In those power cuts residents in Aldwickbury Crescent, including the Willow Court care home, were without power for one night and most of the following day.

But a spokesperson for EDF Energy said the two power cuts were unrelated.

She said Monday's power cut was due to a fault on an underground cable while the power cuts during the snow were down to a fault on the overhead electricity network.

She added: "We do understand the inconvenience which any interruption to supply can cause and we apologise to anyone who was affected.
