YOUNGSTERS will soon have a revamped play area to enjoy after funding was secured to redevelop an existing play space in Wheathampstead.

Work on the play area off Caesars Road will begin in early 2011 and follows a series of consultations about the play area with local residents and youth groups. A group made up of representatives from the district council, Wheathampstead Parish Council and local residents has been involved in discussions about the content and the style of the new play area which will be designed by Groundwork Hertfordshire to make the most of the existing landscape and natural surroundings. It will be funded by the Department of Education, Herts County Council and St Albans District Council.

Cllr Anthony Rowlands, portfolio holder for sport and healthy living, said: β€œIt is excellent news that this important project has now secured funding. Parents and youngsters in Wheathampstead will, I am sure, be grateful to all those who have worked so hard to make this proposal a reality.”
