New passenger information screens have been installed at St Albans station, which will now show 30 minutes’ worth of departures at a time.

Previously, the screens only showed the next three or four departures. The new screens, which have also been installed at Bedford station, will also tell passengers where facilities such as first class, bicycle storage and wheelchair spaces are available.

Passenger services director Stuart Cheshire said: “These new screens offer the great benefit of enabling passengers to see more departures at once and which trains are calling at their chosen destination, all in a shorter space of time.”

The new screens, which were designed by industry experts, are aimed to help ensure passengers can quickly and easily find their next train once the Thameslink Programme comes into force.

The programme, which is looking to transform London transport by 2018, will see higher-frequency trains between St Albans and the capital.
