A local MP recently elected to Parliament has now also been elected unopposed to the constitutional select committee.
Oliver Dowden, MP for Hertsmere, will examine constitutional issues as well as the quality and standards of administration within the Civil Service.
The committee holds inquiries, and members will also scrutinise reports of the parliamentary and health service ombudsman.
Mr Dowden said: “I am delighted to have been elected to sit on the committee. There are lots of important matters for us to consider, such as English votes for English laws.”
The MP was born in Park Street, grew up in both that village and Bricket Wood, and now lives in St Albans with his wife Blythe and their two children.
