New album for St Albans band Enter Shikari

St Albans band Enter Shikari have unveiled details of their fourth studio album, along with another extensive tour.
The Mindsweep will be launched on January 19 next year, three years after the post-hardcore band’s last release, A Flash Flood of Colour.
Enter Shikari consists of Chris Batten (bass, vocals), Rory Clewlow (guitar, vocals), Rob Rolfe (drums, percussion and vocals) and Rou Reynolds (vocals, electronics, trumpet and guitar).
Rou and Chris are former Verulam pupils, while Rory and Rob are ex-Sandringham School students.
The musicians hope to continue the success they enjoyed with Flash Flood, which went straight to number one upon entering the UK midweek chart.
The band toured the world during that album campaign, seeing large sold-out shows in the likes of Russia, Indonesia and the UK.
Rou said: “We pushed ourselves vocally with some of the rawest, angriest vocals we’ve ever done, as well as some of the most dulcet and delicate.
“It’s even more diverse than normal as we’ve built more confidence and fearlessness to widen our influences further.”
Rou added that while melody and aggression would always be an “important side” of Enter Shikari’s music, the new album focussed on “texture” too.
He explained: “Alongside the core of our guitar, bass, drums, electronics set-up, there’s so much new instrumentation and orchestration.
“Writing for and recording woodwind, brass and strings was so rewarding and really felt like it brought a new dimension to the music.
“We just can’t wait to play these songs live now.”
Enter Shikari’s chief ‘whip-cracker’ at the band’s Japanese label Hostess Entertainment Unlimited, Plug Lazonby, bizarrely described the album as a “double-barrelled spacehopper”.
Jeremy Wheatley, who has worked with The Vaccines, Dizzee Rascal, Sugababes and Bon Jovi, mixed The Mindsweep’s 12 tracks last summer in London.
Enter Shikari kicks off 2015 with tours across Europe and the UK, their first protracted period of headline touring since spring 2013.
