A MUSICAL extravaganza at the Rat’s Castle pub in Fleetville has raised more than £800 for Grove House.

Headliners RnR were joined by a host of local bands including Loose Covers, Amarillo, Rockerbilly, the Hometown Boys, Brothers in Arms and many more. Vocals were provided by Maureen Miller who performed a range of country, rock and soul ballads. There was also a guest appearance by special celebrity actor, Leslie Schofield, who drew the raffle.

The event was the idea of RnR band leader, Jon Mason, who said: “We had a fantastic evening and I am really pleased that we were able to raise so much money to help the hospice.”

He continued: “There are so many people to thank for putting together such a great evening, our drummer Andy who sorted out the sound system and lighting, Les who was MC and Alan who designed the posters and tickets – and of course Pete who came to the rescue with an amazing drum kit on the night.”

Leslie Schofield said, “This is a great pub with a friendly atmosphere, and it was very generous of the landlord Gordon Lungley to include a buffet in with the ticket price.”

Landlord Gordon added: “We all had a great evening and we are very grateful to everyone who helped and everyone who donated raffle prizes. Grove House does fantastic work in the community; so many people are touched by cancer during their lives and it was good to do something to help Grove House continue its work supporting local families. We are planning another band extravaganza next summer – so watch this space for dates and details.”
