Last year 1,682 babies were born in St Albans; 906 boys and 776 girls.
The most popular baby names in St Albans in 2017 were Thomas for boys and Olivia for girls, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).
Parents in the district followed the national trend by choosing Olivia, the most popular name for girls across the country, but Oliver, the nation’s most popular boys’ name, failed to make the top spot.
The second most popular name for baby boys in St Albans was Joshua, with Henry and Jack both coming in third.
For girls second place was a two-way tie between Amelia and Emily.
Nick Stripe, of the ONS, said: “Although Oliver and Olivia remained the most popular baby names in 2017, some fascinating changes took place beneath them.
“Leo entered the boys’ top 10 for the first time, whilst Hunter rocketed into the top 100, also for the first time, reaching number 78.
“Brand new entries into the top 100 for girls include the names Aurora and Hallie.”
