Well-loved Christmas trees can be recycled for a charity in more postcodes than ever before around St Albans and Harpenden.

People living in AL1, AL2, AL4, and AL5 can now donate old trees to The Hospice of St Francis, which supports people with life-limiting illnesses.

If a household is signed up by January 4 then the tree will be picked up from outside the property and recycled over the weekend of Saturday 6 and 7.

Community fundraiser at the hospice, Hannah Norton, said: “It’s the first time we’ve been involved with a Christmas tree collection which supports our hospice and we’re extremely grateful to the Lions of Harpdenden and St Albans, and the Round Table, for helping out with this initiative.”

She said it is a great way to save a post-Christmas job and donate to charity.
