THERE has been an increase in the number of St Albans district residents returning their electoral registration forms this year with 94 per cent of households doing so..

This is an increase of nearly two per cent compared to last year and is the fourth highest response rate among the 10 Herts districts. It shows a total electorate of 102.300.

Cllr Anthony Rowlands, portfolio holder for community engagement and support, said: "The right to vote lies at the heart of our democratic system, so it is really encouraging that there has been a significant increase in electoral registration."

You can download the electoral registration form at www.stalbans.gov.uk and if you have any queries about elections or how to register to vote, email elections@stalbans.gov.uk or ring 01727 819545.
