While the festival was underway, St Albans Mayor, Annie Brewster, was formally launching newly resurfaced and upgraded courts at Greenwood Park tennis club.
More than 200 visitors cheered enthusiastically as the Mayor cut the ribbon and was presented with a bouquet of pink roses by two young budding tennis players.
Head coach Sam Pink was on hand to organise a cardio tennis taster whilst the rest of his coaching team led demo sessions with infants and juniors.
The Mayor, who tried out her tennis skills during her visit before dropping into the St Stephen Festival, commented that she was “delighted to see with her own eyes, the Olympic legacy alive and thriving here at Greenwood Park”.
