A SPECIAL guest will join the St Albans Oxfam Group for the launch of its 15th annual Herts Hike.

Mayor of St Albans, Cllr Chris Oxley, is helping the group recruit charitable walkers for the Herts Hike next Saturday, September 26, which offers people an opportunity to raise money for Oxfam by means of a sponsored hike.

There is a choice of four walks - a seven, 12 or 18 mile walk and a mini hike for young families - and all the routes are waymarked and marshalled, taking participants through attractive farming countryside and villages.

Enrolment on any of the walks is free and participants are responsible for collecting their own sponsorship money, all of which will go towards Oxfam's education work in Zambia.

The hikes, which attracted 250 people last year and raised over 6,000, will begin at different times, starting at 8am for the 18 mile route. For more information visit www.oxfamstalbans.org or ring Val Langford on 01727 893269.
