A ST ALBANS schoolboy died suddenly last night.

An ambulance was called to the home of George Darkins, a Year 8 pupil at Marlborough School Science College, at 9.17pm.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, the 13-year-old who lived on Langley Road in Watford, died in hospital shortly after.

A spokesperson for the East of Ambulance service said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the boy’s family at this tragic time. We were alerted to an address in Watford at 9.17pm and after everyone’s best efforts, the boy died shortly after in hospital.”

The police, who were also called to the address, said there were no suspicious circumstances and said the sad incident had been passed to the coroner.

The school is offering counselling to pupils affected by the news.
