WITNESSES are being sought after an alleged assault took place at a kebab shop in Harpenden.

The incident happened at 12.20am on Saturday, February 9, inside Harpenden Grill and Kebab shop on Station Road.

The victim, a man in his 20s, got into a verbal altercation with the suspect and was then punched several times causing him to fall back and hit his head on the floor.

He suffered injuries to his head and face, including a bleed to the brain, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The offender is described as a white man in his early 20s, of medium build, tall with short brown hair and crooked teeth. He was wearing an army green coloured t-shirt.

After the incident the man walked to Harpenden rail station and got on a train towards Luton.

Assistant investigator Nina Garrard, from the Local Crime Unit in St Albans, said: “We know that there was a large amount of people outside the kebab shop at the time of the incident and who may have would have seen either the fight or the victim bleeding with a head injury.

“I would like to speak to any of these people as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact assistant investigator Nina Garrard via the police non-emergency number 101, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
