A MAN from Wheathampstead who was assaulted in the village last night is still recovering in hospital.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was attacked on the High Street at around 11.15pm last night and is currently in a serious but stable condition.

A police spokesperson described the attack as "horrendous" and added: "We've launched an investigation to track a man who we believe is responsible for the assault.
