POLICE pursued a man driving through St Albans before arresting him in front of market shoppers in the city centre on Saturday.
They attempted to stop the 39-year-old man in Harpenden Road but he made off and a car chase ensued.
The vehicle was stopped in St Peter’s Street a short time later at 2.15pm and the man, from Rothersthorpe, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. But no further action was taken and he was subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act.
