An inquest has been opened following the discovery of a man’s body in St Albans early last Saturday (2) morning.

A spokesman for Herts Police said the body of the man, from St Albans, was discovered in a pond at Highfield Park, close to Nightingale Lane in St Albans, at about 3.30am.

The Hertfordshire Coroners’ Court in Hatfield has now opened and adjourned an inquest into the death of Nozrul Islam, aged 22.

According to the court’s website, the provisional cause of death is drowning. A date for an inquest hearing into Mr Islam’s death has not been published.

The police spokesman said that investigations into the cause of death were carried out, but it was not believed to be suspicious.
