A MAN was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after falling off a roof in Park Street yesterday (Monday).
The incident happened at around midday as the man, believed to be in his 50s, was working on a house in Hazel Road.
Ambulance crews from St Albans, Garson and Hemel Hempstead attended the scene along with the Herts Air Ambulance, which landed in the garden of the property.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "We believe the man fell several feet from a roof which he was working on. Paramedics at the scene worked extremely hard to stabilise him before he was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel."
Herts Police were notified and a spokesperson said that the matter has now been referred onto health and safety.
