A motorist had to be cut free from his car on Sunday night (23) following an accident on the M25 near Colney Street.

Emergency services were called at 8.30pm after the man in his 30s struck the anti-clockwise concrete central reservation between junctions 22 and 21a.

He was driving a silver Ford and suffered serious injuries to his chest, pelvis and head.

Firefighters removed the roof of the vehicle to free the man who was trapped by his injuries and although the air ambulance was called out, he was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington by land.

Three lanes of the motorway were closed while firefighters worked on the car.
