A St Albans man has been charged in connection with the stabbing of a 29-year-old man in the city centre early yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

Paramedics took the wounded man to a hospital in London after he was found bleeding on the forecourt of the Esso Garage on London Road.

A spokeswoman for Herts Police, who were called by paramedics to the service station at 2.13am, said the man, thought to have been attacked on Keyfield Terrace off London Road, was in a stable condition.

Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 or call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Philip Biggs, 20, of Cell Barnes Lane, has been charged with grievous bodily harm, wounding with intent, and is due to appear at the Hatfield Remand Court today.
