A YOUNG man who disturbed a burglar at his home in St Albans this week was assaulted and tied up by the thief.
The 23-year-old victim, who lives in Sandpit Lane, walked in on the burglar when he returned home just after 1pm on Tuesday.
The man, who is described as being black, of stocky build, in his mid 20s to late 30s and around 6ft 5 tall, assaulted the victim and tied him up, before leaving the premises and making off in a silver Saab car.
The resident, who believes that there may have been another person inside the house but did not see them, suffered minor injuries and did not need hospital treatment.
Police investigations are ongoing and anyone with information or who might have seen what happened is asked to call Detective Sergeant Oliver Johnston on the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222.
