A man has been arrested after allegedly being found with a starter pistol

A 20 year old man has been arrested after allegedly being in possession of a starter pistol.

Police were called to Cottonmill Lane in St Albans just after 3pm today (Friday) following reports of a man with a firearm.

Officers cordoned off the area as a precaution while a search was carried out.

The man was then found and arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm in a public place.

A starter pistol was recovered by police and the man is currently in police custody.

Roads re-opened at 3.50pm.
