BUILDING work on a major city centre housing scheme halted when the developer fell victim to the Icelandic bank meltdown will recommence within two weeks.
Nicholas King Homes stopped work on flats under construction on the Oaklands College City Campus site in Manor Road, St Albans, in October last year after the Icelandic bank funding the project, Heritable, was nationalised.
But it finalised deal with the administrators acting for Heritable on Tuesday and a spokesperson confirmed that work would restart on the 267 flats within two weeks.
She also said that sales would be re-launched in early September and the first buyers would move in by Christmas.
