RESURFACING work due to start on a major road in St Albans today has been postponed.

A full road closure on Verulam Road was anticipated all this week - apart from Wednesday - but Herts County Council said work had been delayed due to a problem with the availability of the necessary machinery.

A spokesperson said advance warning boards on site have been updated and a new start date would be confirmed as soon as possible.

The project to resurface the carriageway, replace damaged ironworks and reapply existing road markings has cost 112,000.
