The anti-clockwise M25 has now fully reopened between J22 (A1081 St Albans) and J21a (A405 St Albans).
The road was closed for over four hours following a collision at 6.30am.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area as there are considerable delays back to J26.
Road users are advised to exit at J22 and follow the Hollow Square diversion symbol via the A1081, A414 and A405 to rejoin the M25 at J21A, but this diversion route is also heavily congested.
