The walled garden of Luton Hoo estate will hold its first open day of the season this Saturday (April 8).

It is the official beginning of the Open Wednesday season, where visitors can visit and take tours of the newly-revived garden.

A spokesperson said: “The garden is constantly evolving, and this winter our gardeners and conservationists have been working hard on improvements to the Victorian greenhouses.

“The volunteers are keen to show visitors the progress since the beginning of the garden revival ten years ago.

“Research began in 2001 and results are displayed throughout the garden, and in our Shooting Lodge Café.”

The garden was established in the 1760s, before falling into disrepair in the 1980s.

It has since been taken under the wing of a team of volunteers, who have restored it to its original glory.

The Saturday event will run from 11am to 5pm. The entrance fee is £3, tours are £2, and under-fives go for free.

Open Wednesdays begin on May 3, between 10.30am and 4pm, with entrance costing £5, including a guided tour.
