Luton Airport received a 46 per cent drop in noise complaints during 2018, according to recently published statistics.
The airport’s quarterly monitoring reports show there were 8.275 complaints about aircraft noise in 2018, compared to 15,384 in 2017.
There were 691 complainants in total, a drop of 38 per cent from last year, with 68 per cent of all complaints made by the same 10 individuals. The airport held surgeries last year for more than 300 people to mitigate the impact of noise.
Flight operations manager James Dontas told the Herts Ad: “As the airport continues to grow and develop, we are always looking for new ways to reduce the impact of noise on local residents.
“While noise from aircraft is an unavoidable part of an airport’s operations, we are working closely with our partners and the local community to ensure that the benefits of our transformation are felt in the surrounding areas.”
