IT took 10 years but the owner of an award-winning restaurant has finally found the perfect location to open a new eaterie in Harpenden.

Lussmanns Fish & Grill has chosen an 18th Century coach house in Leyton Road, formerly The Bean Tree, as the setting for its third branch. The brasserie, which champions welfare-driven British producers, will have seating for 65 diners as well as a courtyard garden and is due to open in August.

Owner Andrei Lussmann said: “After a 10-year search for the right location, we are delighted to finally be coming to Harpenden.

“Although our commitment to providing first class food and service to every diner will be consistent with the reputation we have established in St Albans and Hertford, this restaurant will offer a very different dining experience.”

He added: “While Hertford has a classic bijou bistro atmosphere and St Albans provides a more up-town brasserie canteen, Harpenden will add a delightful, rural character and feel to our portfolio.”
