A REMINDER about the benefits of walking has come from the Countryside Management Service (CMS) for anyone who has made a New Year’s Resolution to get fitter or lose weight.
The CMS coordinates a programme of free short social health walks across the county including St Albans, Harpenden and the villages.
There are nine local walks running from this month until April taking such locations as Heartwood Forest in Sandridge, Wheathampstead, Hatching Green in Harpenden and Highfield Park in St Albans.
They range from 20-minute walks with places to rest on the way up to two hour rambles. They often finish at cafes for a well-earned drink after the walk..
