Long delays on M1 after crash near St Albans

There are delays of over an hour on the M1 southbound after a collision between two large vehicles near St Albans.
The crash took place at around midday on the M1 southbound between Junction 8 for Hemel Hempstead and Junction 9 for Redbourn.
Two HGVs were involved in the collision, and two out of the four lanes have been closed. According to Highways England, the crash has resulted in a large amount of debris being strewn across the carriageway.
Clear-up operations are ongoing at the scene.
Drivers are asked to allow extra time for their journeys and consider alternative routes if possible.
