A SUPERMARKET in London Colney is on a mission to raise road safety awareness for children.
Sainsbury's in the Colney Fields Shopping Centre invited 50 children from local school and community groups to their road safety awareness event held in the car park last week.
Joint organisers NFT Distribution, the UK's leading provider of chilled distribution services to major retailers, drove one of their lorries to the event so that every child could sit in the front seat and see for themselves how limited the driver's view was.
Deputy store manager at the London Colney Sainsbury's, Stuart Priest, said: "Our objective is to reduce road accidents and raise awareness of road safety issues across the district. Because the children had the opportunity to look at things through the eyes of a driver, they can now appreciate the need to think twice when near a busy road.
