LOOKING up at the sunflowers she has grown this year in her grandfather’s garden is getting harder and harder for little Grace Fitzjohn.

For the sunflowers heading skywards in the garden of Frank and Eunice Fitzjohn in Willowside, London Colney, are already 11ft 6ins tall and Grace is hoping they reach 12ft which is a foot higher than last year’s plants.

Grace, seven, of Whitehorse Lane, London Colney, is a pupil at Bowmansgreen JMI School in the village and when she is not out playing with her classmates, she loves to help her grandad in the garden.

She plants seeds, weeds, waters and also re-pots seedlings grown in the greenhouse. And she is not entirely an outdoors girl.

Eunice said: “She is also very helpful in the house and is good at washing up, drying up and making scrambled eggs!”
