People can pick up a free light timer and have their property security marked at a crime prevention evening in London Colney.

Following a similar event in Harpenden, the police cadets are running one in the south of the district at 7pm to 8.30pm on Thursday, May 17 at The Caledon Community Centre on Caledon Road in London Colney.

Ch Insp Stuart Cheek said: “I’m very grateful to the police cadets for running this event to help prevent burglaries and help keep residents in London Colney safer. I will also be in attendance along with some of my team to support their work.

“We are making arrests, targeting suspected offenders and increasing patrols across the St Albans district. Residents can also do their bit by taking on-board crime prevention advice including giving their homes a ‘lived-in’ look by leaving a light on when it gets dark, investing in more secure locks and looking at the options for CCTV and web-based cameras.”
