Long-standing charity fundraiser Anne Swanston lost husband Ian to a rare illness in 2002 but although her life has moved on, she has never given up fundraising in his memory.
And once again she has raised thousands of pounds for Crohn’s & Colitis, a St Albans-based charity.
Anne raised £5,800 by holding the annual Ian Swanston Charity Ball at Sopwell House Hotel in April together with a ladies coffee morning.
And last week she presented a cheque for that sum to the charity’s chief executive David Barker at its offices in London Road.
Ian died as a result of ulcerative colitis and ankylosing spondylitis and Anne has raised over £150,000 over the years for both Crohn’s & Colitis and the Ankylosing Spondylitis Society.
And she has no intention of giving up - she is planning a ladies lunch/coffee morning next year at St Michael’s Manor Hotel and the ball will be held at Sopwell House next May.
