A FIRE in a launderette on Saturday night forced the evacuation of residents living in the accommodation above.

Firefighters were called to Kays Launderette, in Beech Road, St Albans, at about 8.30pm after the blaze was spotted from Linley Court, which is located in adjacent Valley Road.

The blaze broke out in the back room of the ground floor terraced shop and firefighters spent around two hours on the scene. No-one was injured.
