FORMER Ryder Cup player and BBC commentator Ken Brown recently helped launch the Ryder Cup Heritage Exhibition at Verulamium Museum in St Albans.

The exhibition charts the iconic golf event from its earliest beginnings as a friendly match between British and American PGA professionals through to the impact made by Samuel Ryder, one of St Albans’ most illustrious sons, who donated the famous gold trophy.

A civic reception hosted by St Albans mayor, councillor Aislinn Lee, was held to officially launch the exhibition, which opened last Friday, April 20.

Golfers and sports enthusiasts will have a unique opportunity to delve into the competition’s history courtesy of memorabilia from past players including rarely seen photographs.
