Friends and family of a woman who died of cancer put on their running shoes to raise money for charity in her memory.
150 runners turned up to the sports ground, at the bottom of Old School Drive, in Wheathampstead, to take part in Leila’s Run - an annual event - which raised £1,000.
Leila Taylor was a keen runner and completed more than 200 marathons before she passed away in 2013 after being diagnosed with cancer.
The event has been taking place for four years on the track that Leila regularly used to train for her runs. Participants have a choice of doing one, two or four laps around a 10k route and all money goes towards the Michael Sobell Hospice where Leila died aged 63.
Leila’s running partner, Denys Baudry, commented: “We will continue to organise the event in Leila’s memory because she was such a lovely lady and we don’t want to forget her.
“Leila’s Run is an emotional event for many of the participants who not only run for Leila in her memory but also for other lost ones.”
